Free screening of WAYDOWNTOWN presented by CUFF

On Wednesday April 29 watch a great Canadian film for free!

As part of National Canadian Film Day the Calgary Underground Film Festival is presenting a 15th Anniversary Screening of WAYDOWNTOWN. Director Gary Burns will be in attendance for an introduction and Q&A following the FREE screening at Globe Cinema. The event will be moderated by CBC host Chris dela Torre.

WAYDOWNTOWN is a beloved Calgarian film that won Best Canadian feature at the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival, beating a field that included GINGER SNAPS, MAELSTROM and THE PERFECT SON. A group of young employees bet a month's salary, winner takes all, on who can last the longest without going outside.

Screening Wednesday April 29th 7:00pm at Globe Cinema (617 8 Ave SW)

April 29 is National Canadian Film Day, a day to throw off the shackles of fear and insecurity, stand together with Canadians from coast to coast and pat ourselves on the back for something other than various ice-related sports and sports-related doughnut shops. (Not that we don’t love ice-related sports and doughnuts.) It’s a light-hearted intervention for our national consciousness, a wake-up call to anyone who has not yet been exposed to the great cinematic stories we tell one another in this cold, vast country.
