Manuel’s world falls apart when Rosa, his wife of decades, suddenly commits suicide, in this shocking Spanish horror film.
The suicide becomes the catalyst for Manuel's progressive physical and mental deterioration, as his dementia gets worse each day. No longer able to care for himself, Manuel goes to live with his adult son Mario and his young family, despite the fierce opposition of his new wife, who’s expecting a baby. The family’s new living situation rapidly goes downhill, until it literally becomes a matter of life and death, leading to a dramatic denouement, which will take place on the hottest night of the century. An unspeakable series of paranormal happenings begin to unfold.

Raúl Cerezo started to work in short films at the age of 16. He is the co-director of Escorto Short Film Festival of El Escorial (Madrid) where he lives. He writes about short films for El Zoom Erótico, and has co-written a book about Roman Polanski with David Baró.
Trained as an Aeronautic Engineer, Fernando González Gómez set up Fanda Films in 2004 together with the producer Niko Verona with whom he has made more than 30 short films. Fanda Films’ productions have been shown in hundreds of festivals, receiving dozens of national and international awards. Sharp and agile dialogues, extreme characters and strange and dystopian atmospheres, characterize this prolific Spanish filmmaker’s work. THE ELDERLY is his third feature film.
