NOFX - 40 YEARS OF FUCKIN’ UP chronicles the chaotic four-decade career of the punk rock band NOFX.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1983, NOFX's mainstream success coincided with increased interest in punk rock during the 1990s, but unlike many of their contemporaries, they were never signed to a major label. The documentary details the bands storied history as drug-addled teen punks-turned-icons. Directed by Calgary alumnus James Buddy Day (CUFF 2017 Selection MANSON: THE VOICE OF MADNESS) and produced by NOFX bassist and lead vocalist Fat Mike, 40 YEARS OF FUCKIN’ UP features interviews with fellow NOFX band members guitarist Eric Melvin, lead guitarist Aaron ‘El Hefe’ Abeyta, and drummer Erik Sandin. The film explores the band's history of survival, excess, and self-destruction.

James Buddy Day is an award-winning filmmaker and author whose work examines the intersection of crime, culture, and modern mythology. As director of 40 YEARS OF F*IN’ UP, he spent years embedded with NOFX, documenting the band’s final tour while unpacking the creative friction, loyalty, and contradictions that fueled four decades of radical independence. Known for immersive, access-driven storytelling, Day builds his films from primary sources and unguarded interviews, allowing his subjects to define their own legacy. His previous projects include THE SECRETS WE BURY (HBO Max; Hamptons International Film Festival; DOC NYC), FALL RIVER (Winner, Best Documentary Series, CrimeCon), CATCHING A SERIAL KILLER: BRUCE MCARTHUR (Canadian Screen Award), and MANSON: THE VOICE OF MADNESS (CUFF 2017 Selection). He is also the creator and host of UNMARKED: A True Crime Podcast.
